HOW WE GOT OUR START

OUR HISTORY

     In the year of 1998, Bishop Chandler D. Owens, Presiding Bishop of the Church of God in Christ consecrated Bishop Wallace Johnson to the office of Bishop and installed Bishop Johnson as prelate of the
newly formed Jurisdiction, Fourth Jurisdiction of Arkansas Church of Go
d in Christ.The Jurisdiction Headquarters was located at 761 south Adams Street, Camden, Arkansas.  The Jurisdiction started with approximately 30 Churches which consisted of approximately 6 districts.Bishop Johnson served well.  

     Under his leadership the Jurisdiction grew and the Headquarters was moved to 3150 Hwy 7 South, Camden, Arkansas. Bishop Johnson passed from labor to reward February 2011 after serving 13 years as Prelate of Fourth Jurisdiction of Arkansas.

     On July 14, 2011, Bishop Charles E. Blake, Sr. Presiding Bishop and Chief Apostle of the Church of God in Christ, Inc. appointed Bishop Junius E. Williams, as Bishop Designate of the Fourth Jurisdiction of Arkansas. Bishop Donne L. Lindsey served as Interim Bishop of the Jurisdiction until November 7, 2011 at the 104th Holy Convocation of the Church of God in Christ, which was held in St. Louis, Missouri American Center, Bishop Charles E. Blake along with the General Board, and Consecrated Bishop Williams to the office of Bishop. Bishop Williams became the second in succession to serve as Prelate of the Fourth Jurisdiction of Arkansas Church of God in Christ.

     Under the leadership of Bishop Williams, the Jurisdiction has taken on tremendous growth; the Jurisdiction has approximately 50 churches which consist of 13 districts. We’re on our way to being one of the greatest Jurisdictions in the Church of God in Christ worldwide; “For eyes have not seen, ears haven’t heard, neither has it entered into the heart of man all the good things God has in store for us.”

     The Fourth Jurisdiction of Arkansas is proud of its heritage and strives to continue in the spreading of the gospel and the building of God’s Kingdom.
